About Us
Vision
Our vision is empowered, thriving young people achieving their potential in socially just, inclusive, and equitable communities.
Mission
Livity Youth Edinburgh challenges systemic racism and inequality by offering inclusive youth clubs and sports activities that empower underprivileged and underrepresented young people. We encourage Black and Global Majority youth to express themselves, celebrate their heritage, and shape their own futures, creating leaders of today and tomorrow who are active in community and civic life.
By participation in community and civic life, we mean:
- Equal access to education, employment, and public services.
- Meaningful opportunities to influence local policies and initiatives.
- Active engagement in social, political, cultural, and economic life.
Our Value
Inclusion
We welcome any young person who shares our values and is committed to fostering understanding across different communities.
Empowerment
We encourage young people to have ownership in how Livity delivers its services, increasing their confidence, resilience, and leadership skills as they grow.
Connection
We promote teamwork and respect, building connections among young people, encouraging them to engage with their communities and work together toward common goals.
Who we are
Livity Youth Edinburgh(LYE) is a Black and Global Majority* led youth charity that provides
safe, nurturing spaces for young people in the wider Craigmillar area. We deliver free sports,
creative arts, and cultural activities that help them learn important skills, gain confidence,
celebrate diversity and connect with others.
Our young people shape LYE’s activities, learning the power of working together towards
common goals, with the opportunity to become leaders in their communities.
LYE welcomes any young person who shares our values of inclusion, empowerment, and
connection. We especially welcome young people who feel underprivileged or
underrepresented.
*Global Majority refers to people who identify as Black, Asian, Brown, Dual-heritage, Indigenous to the global south, and or have
been racialised as “ethnic minorities”, and who represent approximately 80% of the world’s population.

Edviges Tavares Lima
Moving from West Africa to Europe, I faced racism and struggled to navigate distinct cultures. Now in the UK, as a mother of two, I see history repeating itself. This inspired me to take action – joining Livity Youth Scotland to empower young leaders, break cycles of discrimination, and create a more inclusive future.
Emilio Tavares Lima
My passion for working with youth and the community stems from my belief that “community matters.” For many decades, I have dedicated myself to empowering young people, fostering inclusion, and creating growth opportunities. Guiding youth to realise their potential and strengthening community bonds bring me immense fulfilment.
Julia Tarajkowicz
I have worked as a youth worker for five years in both voluntary and public sectors. I am passionate about working alongside children and young people and supporting them to grow in confidence and self-belief. As there is nothing more rewarding than seeing children and young people being empowered.
